# How do I get alerted when something goes wrong on my Faaaster site?

The site's **Tools** tab, **Alerts & notifications** section, lets you turn on **Critical PHP Error Alerts** and choose who receives **Notifications**.

## Critical PHP Error Alerts

According to the interface: "Receive email alerts when a critical PHP error occurs on your site."

This is the setting that warns you a site is broken before your visitors tell you.

## Notifications

The **Notifications** row shows which roles receive the emails. On the test site: "Users receiving email notifications: Owner, Admin".

The **Settings** button opens the setting.

> Alert preferences can also be set at the account level, in **Account settings** → **Alerts**, which lets you select the recipient roles. Once saved, the site setting takes precedence over the account setting.

### Choosing the recipients

1. Open the site, **Tools** tab.
2. **Alerts & notifications** section, **Notifications** row.
3. Click **Settings**.
4. Turn each role on or off: **Owner**, **Admin**, **Member**.
5. Click **Save**.

By default, **Owner** and **Admin** receive alerts, **Member** doesn't.

> **The setting applies to roles, not to people.** Adding an admin to the team automatically subscribes them to the site's alerts.

## What triggers an alert

Notifications are **not configured event by event**: you choose who receives them, and Faaaster sends an email in the following cases.

**Availability**

- Site down, then site back online
- Critical PHP error — only if **Critical PHP Error Alerts** is turned on

**Resources**

- High CPU usage
- Low disk space

**Security**

- Vulnerability detected

**Collaboration**

- New annotation
- Branch about to be archived

**Subscription** — sent to the **Owner** and **Admin** roles, regardless of the **Notifications** setting:

- Trial ending soon
- Unpaid invoice, then site suspended for late payment
- Payment method missing
- Subscription ending soon, then site archived
- Development instance about to be archived, then archived

The unpaid invoice, the site suspension and the upcoming end of the subscription are also notified by SMS.

Other operations — backups, plugin updates, PHP version, domain or configuration changes, import, export — don't send an email: you'll find them, site by site, in the **Events** tab.
