# How do I archive or delete a site on Faaaster?

Archiving is done from the site's **Tools** tab, in the **Danger zone**, with the **Archive website** button. The archive lets you reactivate the site later.

> **What archiving does exactly**, according to the interface: "This will stop the website, delete all backups and detach the hosting subscription. An archive will be created so you can reactivate the site later if you need to."

## Archive a site

> **Prerequisite** — archiving is reserved for the organization's owner and admins. For other roles, the button is grayed out.

1. Open the site.
2. Go to the **Tools** tab.
3. Scroll down to the **Danger zone** section.
4. Click **Archive website**.
5. In the "Are you sure ?" window, type `ARCHIVE`, then click **Validate**. The interface reminds you that the associated subscription will also be deleted.

## What you lose

- **All the site's backups are deleted.** Export whatever you want to keep **before** archiving.
- The hosting subscription is detached.
- The site is no longer served to visitors.

> **Before archiving**, remember to export the files and the database from the same **Backup & migration** section of the **Tools** tab.

## What you keep, and for how long

An archive of the site — files and database — is created at the time of archiving: it's what the site can be reactivated from.

> **The archive is kept for at least 30 days.** Beyond that, its retention isn't guaranteed: only an export downloaded to your own computer guarantees that you can recover your site.

> ⚠️ **Keep your own copy.** An export you keep yourself never expires: make one before archiving.

If you cancel your subscription instead (**Subscription** tab, **Unsubscribe…**), the site stays online until the end of the current period, then is archived; the interface specifies that "A final backup remains restorable."

## Reactivate an archived site

An archived site is reactivated by **subscribing again**: this is the intended path, including for a site archived automatically at the end of the free trial. It goes through the **Reactivate** button (or **Restart** when there's nothing to pay) on the site's screen, offered to the owner, or through the **Trash** of the **Projects** list, **Restore** button.

For an archived **development environment**, reactivation is direct: the site's **Environments** section offers a **Trash** tab and a **Reactivate** button on each archived environment.
