# I can't log in to Faaaster

First check which access is involved: your **Faaaster account** or your site's **WordPress admin**. The two are separate and aren't troubleshot the same way.

## I can't access my Faaaster account

- **Forgot your password** — the **Forgotten password ?** link on the login page sends a password reset email.
- **Account created with GitHub** — you don't have a Faaaster password: use **Login with GitHub**.
- **I'm logged in but I can't see my projects** — your email address probably isn't verified. Faaaster then shows the **Verify your email address** screen; click the link you received by email, or use **Resend validation link**.

## I can't access WordPress

The **WP Dashboard** button, in the site's header, opens the WordPress admin **without a password**: your Faaaster session is enough. It's the simplest way to regain control of a WordPress site whose credentials you've lost.

### If the button doesn't work

**The site may be paused or starting up.** The status, in the header, will tell you. Action buttons are disabled until the environment is ready — wait a few minutes, or fix the cause of the pause.

**Your role on the site may not allow it.** With the **Viewer** role, the button stays grayed out: this role lets you view the site, not access its credentials. Ask the owner or an admin of the organization to give you a broader role.

**WordPress itself may be broken** — a faulty plugin, a failed update. In that case, regaining control goes through WP-CLI, over SSH.

### Regain control from the command line

Connect via SSH, go to `www`.

**Deactivate the plugin that's blocking the admin:**

```bash
wp plugin list --status=active
wp plugin deactivate plugin-name
```

If you don't know which one, deactivate them all, regain control, then reactivate them one by one:

```bash
wp plugin deactivate --all
```

**Reset an administrator password:**

```bash
wp user list --role=administrator
wp user update USER_ID --user_pass='AStrongPassword'
```

**Create an emergency administrator**, if no account works anymore:

```bash
wp user create backup-admin you@example.com --role=administrator --user_pass='AStrongPassword'
```

> **Delete this emergency account once things are back to normal.** A forgotten administrator is a door left open.

### If nothing works

Restore a backup from before the problem from the **Backups** tab. Backups are created automatically every day, and the AI assistant takes one before every update it performs: so a backup from before the faulty update usually already exists.
