# How do I change the hosting plan of a Faaaster site?

From the site's **Subscription** tab, the **Change plan** section lets you switch to another offer. The prorated amount of the current plan is **credited automatically**.

> The interface puts it this way: "unused time on the current plan is credited automatically". You don't pay twice for the current period.

> **Restricted to the organization's owner and administrators.** For other roles, the **Select** buttons are grayed out and the price isn't shown.

## Changing plan

1. Open the site, **Subscription** tab.
2. **Change plan** section.
3. Choose the billing period — **Yearly** (2 months free) or **Monthly**.
4. Click **Select** under the plan you want.
5. Complete the billing and payment step that opens.

## Monthly or yearly?

The **yearly** subscription gives you **2 months** free compared with monthly billing.

## Upgrading or downgrading

The change works both ways. An upgrade increases the allocated server resources; a downgrade reduces them.

## What a change costs

**Nothing more than the difference.** The interface says so next to the **Change plan** title: "unused time on the current plan is credited automatically".

What you've already paid for the plan you're leaving is therefore deducted from the new one. There's no change fee.

## Is the site interrupted?

**As a rule, no.** The change adjusts the allocated resources: the new configuration is prepared alongside, then the site switches over to it — it stays online during the switchover, which takes a few minutes. If a switchover without downtime isn't possible, the site restarts briefly.

> **On an online store, still prefer an off-peak time**: that's when a possible restart goes unnoticed.

## Before downgrading

A lower plan allocates less memory and fewer PHP processes. Two checks to make first:

1. **Disk space used** — **Server** tab, **Disk** section. It counts the files, the database and the local backups.
2. **Actual usage** — **Performance** tab: memory, CPU and PHP-FPM processes compared with their limits. A site that's already close to its ceilings will exceed them after a downgrade.

> ⚠️ **A poorly assessed downgrade degrades the site without warning**: slow pages, 502 errors at peak times. The **Performance** tab spares you the bad surprise — it flags on its own when a resource is too tight.
