# How do I connect my GitHub account to Faaaster?

From your profile (your avatar menu, top right → **My profile**), the **GitHub Integration** section offers **Link GitHub Account**. Once it's linked, you can push your code to your sites from your repositories.

## Link the account

1. Open your profile: avatar menu → **My profile**.
2. **GitHub Integration** section.
3. Click **Link GitHub Account** and authorize access.

Once the account is linked, the section shows your GitHub username and the **Unlink GitHub Account** button. If Faaaster's GitHub app isn't installed yet, a message invites you to install it, with the **Install App** button.

## Link the account or install the app?

The two steps don't do the same thing:

| | What it unlocks |
| --- | --- |
| **Link GitHub Account** | Faaaster can **list your repositories** so you can pick one from a selector, instead of pasting a URL by hand. |
| **Install App** | Gives access to your **private repositories**. Without it, only your public repositories are visible. |

> **If your repositories are private — the usual case — you need both.**

## Connect a repository to a site

> 🔜 **Coming soon** — connecting a repository to an existing site, from the site's screen, is coming soon. In the meantime, contact support to connect a repository to your site.

## Trigger a deployment

Deployment happens **on push** to the configured branch. The interface reminds you as long as this isn't set up: "Please setup the webhook on your GitHub repository and push a commit to the branch to enable the integration."

Each deployment then appears in the site's **Events** tab, under the label **Git push**.

## Detach

> 🔜 **Coming soon** — detaching a repository from the site's screen is coming soon. In the meantime, contact support to detach a repository.

> ⚠️ **Test on a development environment before connecting production.** A bad push deploys just as fast as a good one.
