# How do I duplicate a site on Faaaster?

From the site's **Tools** tab, in the **Backup & migration** section, the **Clone** row duplicates the site to start a new project. Click **Clone** to start the operation.

> The interface describes the feature like this: "Create a new site from the current one."

> **Prerequisite** — cloning is reserved for the organization's owner and admins. For other roles, the **Clone** button is grayed out.

## Duplicate

1. Open the site you want to duplicate.
2. Go to the **Tools** tab.
3. In the **Backup & migration** section, find the **Clone** row.
4. Click **Clone**.

## What happens next

Clicking **Clone** takes you to the **new site creation flow**, with the original site already selected as the template. There you choose its name, its address and its plan, just like any new site.

> **The clone is therefore a site in its own right**, with its own address and its **own subscription** — it isn't free and shares nothing with the original.

## What the clone copies

**The entire disk is duplicated**: site files, plugins, themes, uploaded content and database. The clone therefore starts in a state identical to the original.

Two things are reset:

- **The WordPress administrator** — the clone gets its own administrator account, separate from the original site's;
- **The caches** — they're purged, otherwise the template's pages would still display with the old address.

**The original site's address is rewritten** in the clone's database: every occurrence of the template's main address — the one in its WordPress settings — is replaced with the clone's address.

> ⚠️ **Only the template's main address is replaced.** If its content hard-codes other addresses (an old domain, a secondary domain), fix them with `wp search-replace` over SSH once the clone is created.

The original site's **backups** aren't carried over: the clone starts with its own history.

## How long does it take?

Duplicating is a site creation: allow a few minutes while the environment gets ready. The status shows **Starting up…** before showing **Online**.
