# How do I edit my site's files without FTP on Faaaster?

The site's **Access** tab offers an online **File Editor** — "Browse and esit your files theough a graphic interface.", as the interface puts it. No FTP client is needed.

## Open the editor

1. Open the site, **Access** tab.
2. In the **File Editor** section, click **Show**.
3. In the window that opens, note the **Login** and **Password**, then click **Access the file editor**.

## Precautions

> **Editing a file live on a production site is risky.** Create a backup first (**Backups** tab), or work on a test environment.

If **Read only** mode is on (**Security** tab), files are write-locked, except for `/wp-content/uploads`.

## A more comfortable alternative

For regular changes, the **VS Code extension** connects your usual editor to the site through a secure SSH tunnel — more practical than an online editor for ongoing work.
