# Should I enable Managed Cron on Faaaster?

**Managed Cron** is set from the site's **Server** tab. It runs WordPress scheduled tasks server-side at a fixed interval, instead of depending on traffic.

> The interface explains it this way: "Run WordPress scheduled tasks server-side at a fixed interval, even when your pages are served from cache. Replaces the default WP cron that only fires on uncached traffic."

## Why it matters

WordPress's native cron only fires when a visitor loads a page that is **not cached**. But Faaaster caches your pages to serve them fast: your scheduled tasks — scheduled posts, plugin backups, email sending — may never fire.

Managed Cron removes this dependency.

## Turning it on

1. Open the site, **Server** tab.
2. **Managed Cron** section.
3. In the selector, replace **Disabled (default WP cron)**, the default state, with an interval.

## Choosing the interval

The interval is **configurable**. The selector offers:

| Setting | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Disabled (default WP cron)** | WordPress goes back to its native cron, triggered by uncached traffic. |
| **5 min** | For a site where tasks must run quickly — online store, transactional emails. |
| **15 min** | A good compromise for most sites. |
| **30 min** | Editorial sites with scheduled publishing. |
| **60 min** | Brochure sites, where tasks aren't urgent. |

> **An interval change is applied within a few seconds, without restarting the site.** It's a risk-free setting: you can adjust it as many times as you need.

## Which one should you choose?

Start with **15 min**. Go down to 5 minutes only if you notice that tasks run too late — an order email, for example. A short interval puts load on the server more often, with no benefit if your tasks aren't urgent.
