# My Faaaster site was paused, how do I restart it?

A site on the **Dev** plan is automatically paused when it's no longer visited. To bring it back, open it from your **Projects**: the **Site paused** block offers to restart it.

> **Pausing doesn't delete anything.** Your files, your database and your backups are kept; only the server is stopped.

## Restart the site

1. Open the site from the **Projects** list.
2. Below the site header, the **Site paused** block says "This site has been automatically paused."
3. Click **Restart**.

If an invoice is still unpaid, the button reads **Reactivate**: it takes you to the payment needed to bring the site back online.

![The banner's Actions menu, which groups the restart options.](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/9/d/2/d/9d2d3e0b7134b800/act-bandeau-actions-en_12519nc.png)

The header's **Actions** menu (**Restart PHP / Nginx**, **Restart server**) is meant for a site that's online: while the site is paused, it's disabled, like the **Clear cache** button. Use the button in the **Site paused** block.

The restart takes a few moments, while the infrastructure starts back up. The status then returns to **Online**.

## Avoiding pauses

Pausing for inactivity only applies to the **Dev** plan. The **Perso**, **Pro** and **Business** plans aren't affected: switch to one of them from the **Subscription** tab if your site needs to stay available at all times.

> **The delay is 5 days without use.** An unused development **environment** is also archived after 30 days.

## Automatic restart

Opening the site through its **Preview and collaboration link** triggers the restart **on its own**: a loading screen is shown while the site becomes available again, then you're taken to it.

On the other hand, the site's direct address doesn't restart anything: a paused site shows an error message there. So it's the preview link you need to use to wake up a site.
