How do I monitor my Faaaster site's disk space?
The site's Server tab, Disk section, shows the space used and the storage type. The site's Overview also displays usage, in the form 0.9 GB / 10 GB.
What the Disk section shows
Two rows:
- Usage — "Space used by the site files, database and local backups", in the form
0.9 GB used / 10 GB; - Disk type — the storage medium of the volume, for example
Balanced (SSD).

Your backups count toward the quota, just like the files and the database. It's the first thing to check when space shrinks for no apparent reason.
Enlarging the disk
⚠️ Resizing is not a customer action. Disk size and type are changed on Faaaster's side: contact support to request a larger disk.
Worth knowing before you get in touch:
- Enlarging happens live, without interrupting the site, in 10 GB steps.
- Shrinking, however, takes the site offline: a full archive is taken, the disk is recreated at the new size, then the files are restored.
- Changing the type (HDD ↔ SSD) takes several minutes: a full backup is taken, then the disk is recreated with the new type. On the production site, the site stays online during the replacement; on a development environment, on the Dev plan, or if the zero-downtime switchover isn't possible, it is unavailable during the replacement.
An SSD mainly benefits a site with a heavily used database — online store, forum, high traffic. On a brochure site served from cache, the gain is barely noticeable.
When the disk fills up
Faaaster alerts you before it's full: the Low disk space event triggers a notification to the roles you've designated, and appears in the Events tab.
Three reflexes, in this order:
- Check what's taking up space. Local backups count toward the quota, as do the files and the database.
- Clear out what you can — old media, forgotten exports, plugin log tables.
- Ask support for a larger disk if the site has simply grown.
Don't wait until it's full. A full disk prevents WordPress from writing: no more media, no more updates, and often a database that refuses writes.
