My Faaaster site shows a blank page or a 500 error

A blank page or a 500 error almost always signals a fatal PHP error. Open the site's Logs tab and filter on Errors: the message will point you to the file or plugin at fault.

The most common case: it happens right after updating, installing or activating a plugin or theme.

1. Read the logs

  1. Open the site, Logs tab.
  2. Filter on Errors.
  3. Read the most recent entries: they usually name the faulty file, and therefore the plugin or theme involved.

The Errors filter in the Logs tab, which isolates error entries.

2. Roll back

If the problem follows an update, the safest solution is to restore an earlier backup from the Backups tab.

Restoring replaces the site's current state: anything done since the chosen backup is lost.

3. Out of memory?

A blank page can also come from hitting a memory limit. The Server tab, PHP configuration section, lets you increase the Memory limit (memory_limit) — 512 MB by default on the Dev and Perso plans (1024 MB maximum), more on higher plans; the maximum allowed depends on your plan's memory.

4. See the error in plain text

Debug mode (Server tab, Advanced section) displays errors directly on the pages.

Errors will be visible to your visitors. Turn it on only for the duration of the diagnosis, and turn it off immediately afterwards.
