How do I change a Faaaster domain's nameservers?
A domain's Nameservers section shows the servers that are authoritative for your zone, and lets you change them with Modify.
What they're for
Nameservers decide who answers the queries made about your domain. As long as they point to Faaaster, your zone is managed from the DNS section. If you delegate them elsewhere — Cloudflare, another host — that's where everything happens.

Changing them
- Open the domain from the Domains section.
- Go to Nameservers.
- Click Modify and enter the new servers.
⚠️ Propagation can take up to 24 hours. The interface reminds you of this on screen. During that time, part of the world still queries the old servers, and the rest the new ones.
What you lose by delegating elsewhere
This is the consequence most often discovered after the fact:
- the DNS section stops working — Faaaster displays "DNS records are not available because this domain uses external (non-Gandi) nameservers";
- email forwarding stops working, since it relies on MX records managed here;
- any Faaaster Email service needs to be reconfigured with the new provider.
Delegating your nameservers isn't necessary to use a third-party CDN. In most cases, a simple CNAME record is enough, and you keep managing your zone at Faaaster.
Coming back to Faaaster
Re-enter the Faaaster nameservers from the same screen. The DNS section becomes available again once propagation is complete.
