How does domain renewal work on Faaaster?

A domain name bought from Faaaster is renewed automatically, through a dedicated subscription. As long as this subscription is active, the domain renews without any action on your part.

Automatic renewal

Each domain is backed by a subscription. Automatic renewal is on by default: it's the status of this subscription that determines it.

Where to find the setting

  1. Open the Domains section of the left menu.
  2. Click the domain in question.
  3. At the top of the page, the Auto renewal switch is followed by the domain's expiration date, also shown under its name in the menu ("Expires on …").

Restricted to the organization's owner and administrators. For other roles, the switch is grayed out.

A domain's header: status, automatic renewal and expiration date.

Turning off renewal

Turning off automatic renewal amounts to scheduling the cancellation of the domain's subscription: it will run to the end of its term, then won't be renewed. The interface confirms with "Auto renewal cancelled successfully".

Turning it back on cancels this scheduled cancellation — the domain resumes its normal cycle.

⚠️ A domain that isn't renewed is lost when it expires, and becomes available for anyone to buy again, including a competitor. Only turn off renewal if you're certain you no longer need it.

If the payment fails

❓ To be confirmed — what the client receives when the payment for a domain's renewal fails: the Unpaid invoice event and its notifications only apply to site subscriptions, not domain subscriptions.

Check your payment method before the renewal date. An expired card is the leading cause of non-renewal — and a lost domain is rarely recovered.

The payment method is updated in Account settings → Payment method.
