What do site statuses mean on Faaaster?
A site's status is shown in the header bar at the top of its screen, next to its name. It tells you whether the site is being served to visitors, being prepared, paused or in error.
The statuses
Status | What it means |
|---|---|
Online | The site is served normally to visitors. |
Starting up… | The site is getting ready: when it's created, when it restarts, or while an action is being applied (configuration or PHP version change, restore). The site's actions are temporarily disabled. |
Paused | The server is stopped. Files, database and backups are kept. This label is also shown for a site that is archived or whose subscription has been canceled: the site's screen then shows Site archived. |
down | The site is started but isn't responding to availability checks. |
Error | The site ran into an error, for example a creation that didn't complete. |
In the Projects list, a colored dot comes before each site, and a badge flags special cases: Operation in progress, stopped, error, archived, blueprint, Operation needs review (the last operation didn't finish normally) or Operation status undetermined (its result couldn't be confirmed). In these last two cases, check your site before running the operation again.
Development environments show the same statuses, under the labels Ready, Operation in progress, Creation in progress, Paused, Error and Archived.
Why a site gets paused
When Faaaster pauses a site on its own, the reason is shown in the site's Events tab, on the Site stopped event:
Reason | What happened |
|---|---|
Unpaid invoice | An invoice wasn't paid. |
Subscription cancelled | The site's subscription was canceled. |
Branch trial expired | The environment's free trial has ended. |
Branch with no recent visit | The environment went 5 days without any activity. |
A site that is starting up isn't broken. The message "Your website is loading, it will be ready within a few minutes!" signals normal preparation, especially right after creation.
Where to see it
The status appears:
- in the header bar at the top of the site's screen, next to its name;
- in the Projects list, for each site (dot and badge).

A paused site isn't a lost site. Files, database and backups are kept. Fix the cause — the invoice, the subscription, or simply a visit for an environment — and the site starts again. An archived site, however, has lost its backups: only its archive can reactivate it.
